This week in math, we continued to learn how to solve story problems using the bar model. We moved on to solving "Take From" problems. Next week we will review "Add to" and "Take From" problems. We have also been doing "Review Fridays" where we practice past math skills such as addition and subtraction to 20, true and false equations, missing addends, and balancing equations. We had several kids pass math learning targets this week.
In writing, we did our Weekend News and Star of the Week writing for Evan. Then we used to the rest of the week to work on publishing our "How To" books. The kids have been adding additional text features and will hopefully complete them next week.
Ms. Busenitz has been teaching the students about Martin Luther King and how he helped bring awareness for equality among all people. The students learned about MLK wish/ dream and made really cool mobiles that hang in our classroom that will remind us of all the wonderful things about MLK and how he impacted our Country.
Next week is a short week. We will not have spelling words, but we will be discussing how to read multi-syllable words. We will also be learning how to identify the central theme/lesson/moral of a story.
Attached is a little video of students introducing themselves to Ms. B and our new friend Mark. We had a few microphone issues, but wanted to share with you all our little video. Enjoy and have a wonderful long weekend!
