Each student was also given a math packet this week to keep in their goal folders in order to practice the skills that they need in order to improve. Every week we will have a review Friday and revisit past concepts that students are still working on ( addition and subtraction to 20, true/false problems, missing addends...). There are a variety of resources on our addition and subtraction page, as well as a variety of available apps (math magic one, brain nook math, math splash).
In writing, we are learning how to write our own informational "How To" books. Students are writing "How To" books on a variety of topics, such as how to score a touchdown, build sandcastles, and bake cookies. I can not wait for the students to publish their own "How To" book.
Lastly, with our new year we welcome two new members to our class. Mark is a sweet 6 year old boy who says his favorite color is blue. We also welcome our student teacher Ms. Busenitz, known as Ms. B. She grew up on a farm in Wichita. She loves animals and has also demonstrated a natural way with children. She has been a wonderful asset to our class already and I look forward to teaching with her. Happy New Year!!!
