We are continuing to introduce and practice our station activities that help us to read and spell our grade level sight words and decodable words( Playdough Station, Magnetic station and White board...). We are also learning about our writing stations that we will rotate through during small group time. These stations help us to practice writing narrative pieces, using conventions and using correct English grammar when we write. This past week in math we learned about addition and subtraction number sentences. We learned that they were made up of parts and a whole. We also review Gus the Plus sign, Linus the Minus sign and Squeekle the Equal sign. We practiced finding the missing part in a part part whole mat and writing addition and subtraction number sentences to match our part part whole mats. Mrs. Givens, our school counselor came by this past week and visited with us about being a first grader. We reviewed what first graders look like, what they sometimes think, feel and do. We discovered that as a first grader we might feel many different ways and different times. We also found that we have grown since last year and maybe some of the things we think of have changed.
