Back at the end of December an d beginning of January we did a science unit on light and sound. We did some experiments including a couple with flashlights. Students loved experimenting with different ways to communicate with light. We also learned about how different materials are translucent, opaque and transparent. We had a lot of fun and learned about light in the process.
We started a new math unit on working with equations. In order to show that they can work with equations, students are expected to determine if an equation is true/false. They also need to know how to fill in the missing part of an equation in order to solve it correctly (ex: 5 = ___ - 6. The students hopefully learn that when they know the 2 parts they can add them together to find the whole. In this problem students could add 5+6 to find the missing number 11. ) Below are some pictures experimenting with snap cubes and balances, virtual balances and some other games that all help us to practice and learn.
